Trump’s Deadly Legacy: The Travel Mask Ban And The Infected Judge

MASKS WORK!

A few days ago a federal judge, infected by ignorance, overturned a mandate that travellers had to wear Covid masks. U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, condemned by the American Bar Association as “not qualified” because of her lack of experience, was nominated by Trump to the bench after he had lost re-election. She was 33 at the time.

She challenged the mask mandate on two grounds, both of which conflict with the facts.

She did not believe that masks work. This is Judge KKM v.s. the opinion of the CDC and the entire scientific community. “Wearing a mask cleans nothing,” Mizelle wrote. “At most, it traps virus droplets. But it neither ‘sanitizes’ the person wearing the mask or ‘sanitizes’ the conveyance.”

Think about it — it “neither sanitizes the person or the conveyance”. It just stops the virus. As it is supposed to do. Sanitizing is not in the job description! That is left to other tools, like sprays and aerosols and lotions.

The mask was never about sanitization!! It was about prevention!

And there is no doubt that mask-wearing prevents the spread of the virus.

Her second objection is that enforcement of a mask-wearing mandate goes beyond the bounds of the CDC.

The lawsuit against mask-wearing was filed last year in Tampa, Florida, by a group called the Health Freedom Defense Fund. The group’s leader, Leslie Manookian, has appeared at anti-mask protests and has created a film on the link between vaccines and autism. This link has been debunked by an authoritative study and the author of the paper was stripped of his medical license.

“If Congress intended this definition, the power bestowed on the C.D.C. would be breathtaking,” she wrote. “And it certainly would not be limited to modest measures of ‘sanitation’ like masks.” If the government’s broader interpretation of the agency’s powers were accurate, she added, the C.D.C. could require businesses to install air filtration systems, and mandate that people take vaccines.

Yes, they could and they should!

“If there were ever an instance where the C.D.C. has authority to act, the classic case is to prevent the interstate transmission of a dangerous infectious disease,” stated Lawrence Gostin, a professor of global health law at Georgetown University.

The law says the agency may take such measures as it deems “necessary,” and provides a list of examples, like “sanitation.” The judge glommed onto the word ‘sanitation’ and held it aloft like a cross — she limited her examination to a definition of ‘sanitation’ and left out the meaning of the effect that sanitation was supposed to achieve: good public health. In effect, she wrote that the CDC’s power was limited to things like cleaning property — not requiring people to take hygienic steps.

The ruling comes as COVID-19 infections rise again in the United States, with 36,251 new infections reported on average each day, and 460 daily deaths, based on a seven-day average — the highest number of reported total COVID-19 deaths in the world.

America has one million people in the ground because of Covid — most of them deaths that could have been prevented except for decision-making by Trump and his cabal.

Only one in three Americans think it’s time for people to stop using masks and quarantines. Americans know better than their law-makers.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is in favor of Judge KKM…that should be all you need to know.

The truth is that masks help control Covid-19 transmission by preventing people from spreading virus-laden droplets or inhaling those expelled by others.

Where is the part of American law that provides for public retribution? When her actions cause the deaths of tens of thousands more Covid victims, who will arrest her? Where is the axe that should fall on her?

If America is going to be so flippant about how judges are chosen, it should at least have an exist strategy. Judgements made against the public interest should trigger a follow-through.

It’s not enough to count the additional dead. Their cause of death needs to be identified. By name. And punishment should be noted.
