Russia has just perpetrated what could be the largest man-made disaster of this century.

Moscow has just exploded the walls of a major dam that provides water that cools Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, and the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine has suffered a major breach. Its action shows the level of desperation that Putin’s military campaign has reached. For anyone doubting that Russia’s end-game ‘strategy’ is to blow Ukraine to ruins and call it victory, this news affirms the worst.

One week before the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant was blown up, Russian authorities decided that accidents at hazardous facilities would not be investigated.

Ukrainian officials immediately accused Russian forces of exploding the dam and hydroelectric power station. The Ukraine hydro energy company said that the Russians blew up the station from inside the engine room. They wrote that “The station cannot be restored.”

President Zelenskyy asked for an urgent meeting of the UN National Security Council, pointing out that 80 settlements were in danger. The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has opened a criminal investigation into the blowing up of the dam.

Kuleba (above) called Russia’s blowing up of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (KHPP) a horrific war crime and perhaps the largest man-made disaster in Europe in recent decades; “The only way to stop Russia, the greatest terrorist of the 21st century, is to kick it out of Ukraine.”

Early reports indicate that the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant was blown up by the 205th Separate Cossack Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian armed forces.
