America’s Success Proves That Money Does Not Buy Happiness

The U.S. has led the world in economic growth, but not so much at translating that growth into happiness.

The countries at the top of the “World Happiness Index” (yes, of course there is one!) are those that value social sharing. Finland, Denmark, Switzerland — they head the list. Believing that the state should intervene benevolently on the citizens’ behalf, these countries guarantee decent living conditions to everyone.
